Get involved - volunteer with Sussex Police Authority

Sussex Police Authority manages and runs two schemes that use volunteers to oversee two very important areas of policing. The schemes are the Independent Custody Visiting Scheme (ICV) and the Independent CCTV Monitoring Scheme.

Although we have recently undertaken a recruitment process for the ICV scheme we are looking for people who may be interested in taking part in our unique CCTV Monitoring scheme. To find out more about the scheme click here. We will be undertaking a recruitment process in the autumn, to register your interest and to be sent an application form when the process is underway click here.

INTEGRITY, HONESTY, OVERSIGHT

The Authority has a fundamentally important role in the corporate governance of Sussex Police, including an audit function, governance and risk management control. The Authority also oversees the Force handling of complaints, and manages complaints against chief officers.

The Authority also has a statutory duty to operate an Independent Custody Visiting Scheme across the County, thereby reassuring the public that detainee handling facilities are of the highest standard. The Authority also operates an independent CCTV monitoring scheme based upon the same principles. Please click here to find out more.
