Terms of Reference

1. To scrutinise the delivery by Sussex Police of Neighbourhood Policing in Sussex, particularly against Local Policing Plan targets and the Policing Pledge.
2. To oversee the discharge of the Authority’s consultative and community engagement responsibilities.
3. To scrutinise the Authority’s involvement with the work of Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships, Local Strategic Partnerships and Local Area Agreements.
4. To oversee the management of the Safer Neighbourhoods Grant Scheme.
5. To consider risks identified that relate to this strategic element of business.
6. To oversee the engagement of Sussex Police with Neighbourhood Watch.
7. To develop the Authority’s Race Equality Scheme and monitor its operation.
8. To monitor the implementation of equality and diversity policy within Sussex Police.
9. To monitor Force Performance against Sussex LAA targets that relate to the delivery of Neighbourhood Policing.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICING SCRUTINY COMMITTEE is a public meeting that examines Sussex Police Performance against targets within the Local Policing Plan that relate to the delivery of Neighbourhood Policing in Sussex. It is also responsible for approving the Authority's plans for engaging with the public, and considers the drivers for public confidence in policing.
