Scrutiny and Audit of the work of the Authority and Sussex Police is a key check and balance to ensure probity and strong corporate governance. We approach the overarching responsibility towards scrutiny from the following angles:

• Scrutiny Committees examining performance and budget proposals;
• Ensuring policing reflects the priorities of the people of Sussex;
• Engaging with key inspector partners to reflect on strong performance;
• Appointing a Lead Member for Resources;
• Appointing a Lead Member for Estates and Fleet;
• Appointing a Lead Member for Human Resources;
• Appointing a Lead Member for Environmental Impact;
• Appointing a Lead Member for Information Systems;
• Appointing a Lead Member for Partnership working; and
• Maximising the collaboration opportunities in the region.

Sussex Police Authority takes its auditing very seriously and employs internal and external auditors. Internally this takes the form of our Corporate Governance Committee's Annual Audit Plan.
