Sussex Police Authority has a strong culture of continuous improvement, with ambitious and committed Members and officers, working in partnership for the public of Sussex.

The Continuous Improvement Group, compiling Members and officers and chaired by the Chairman of the Authority, assesses, plans, implements and evaluates initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of the Authority in achieving its four strategic objectives. These are:

  • Setting strategic direction;
  • Scrutinising Performance;
  • Ensuring the public of Sussex can shape the delivery of policing; and
  • Making best use of our resources.

The last twelve months have seen the following changes as a direct impact of the work of the Group:

  •  The development of this website;
  • The completion of a comprehensive self-assessment excercise;
  • The development of the Authority's first Continuous Improvement Plan;
  • Preparation of the Authority for its first inspection;
  • Appointment of a Press and PR Officer; and
  • A review of resources and accomodation (underway).

The work and the membership of the CIG will change according to the risks facing the Authority, ensuring that the Group remains a flexible driver for change and continuous improvement.

The Lead Officer for the CIG is Mr Dan Steadman,  Assistant Chief Executive.
