Mr Peter Jones
Councillor Member

Born in Birmingham, Peter was brought up in Yorkshire and is a graduate of Strathclyde University in Economics and Economic History.

He retired from the City in 1995 after a career in stockbroking and merchant banking. In 1997 Peter was elected as a County Councillor for Rye in East Sussex. was elected Leader of East Sussex County Council in 2001 and re-elected in 2005 and 2009.

In addition to his responsibilities at East Sussex County Council and Sussex Police Authority, Peter is a director of Seaspace, the company responsible for ensuring the delivery of a major regeneration projects in Hastings and Bexhill. Peter's interests include politics, wine, walking and boules/petanque.

Peter has been a member since July 2001 and was Chairman of the Authority from 2005 to 2007.
