Benita studied her first degree in Psychology at Leicester University and completed her MSc in Applied Forensic Psychology in 2003. Benita started her career at the National Probation Service in Leicester, but moved to Sussex in 2001 to work for the police at Brighton & Hove as a Prosecution Case Worker, before becoming an Analytical Researcher. In 2003, she travelled around the world with her future husband and returned to become the Anti-Social Behaviour Coordinator for North Norfolk. She returned to Sussex and the Police Authority in 2005.
