Dr Laurie Bush, who lives in Bexhill, has dedicated his career to working with children with special needs. His last post, before retirement, was as Head Teacher of Inglesea EBD (Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties) day school in St. Leonards.
Laurie gained his teachers' certificate from Brighton College of Education, has a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Sussex as well as Philosophy Doctorate from the University of Birmingham. With a strong interest in Employment Rights and Mental Health he is a lay member of both the Employment Tribunals and the Mental Health Review Tribunals and a former non-executive director of Hastings and Rother NHS Trust and East Sussex County Healthcare NHS Trust. As well as being Treasurer of Hastings Charities Association Laurie also enjoys tennis, sailing and skiing.
Laurie has been a member since 2003 and was appointed chairman of the Authority in July 2009, having served as vice-chairman since 2007. He also represents the Authority on the Association of Police Authorities and the Regional Meetings of Police Authorities along with vice-chairman, Steven Waight.
